TYPE
OF INSTITUTION
DANA Academy is a private school that has an accredited high school
curriculum and
accredited college courses that are offered at Hillsborough comm..
college. Along with our academics, we offer a training program for
students to refine their skills for their particular area of concentration.
HISTORY
DANA Academy was founded by LaFayette Colvin in 2002. The school developed
from a summer program that he offered to college and high school students
in Tampa, Florida. A
lot of these students were students that had the ability or skills
to get a college scholarship,
but had not received a scholarship; these students wanted to enhance
their chance of going to
a bigger university by going thru DANA to improve their skills by training
with some of the best athletes in Florida. Mr.Colvin focused his attention
on catering his attention to the middle market -- college market athletes.
LOCATION
DANA Academy is currently temporarily operated from the Hillsborough
Community College
and Tampa Bay Tech High School until the completion of the building
project which is set to
be finished in 2011 with fully functioning housing for all the students
that are enrolled.
STUDENT

body. Students come to DANA from all 50 states, and around the world,
including Canada,
